Curricular Education
West Virginia University understands that higher education is challenged with preparing students for change as well as preparing them to implement that change. By providing students with an array of academic opportunities, WVU succeeds in enabling students to synthesize and understand the economic, environmental, and social forces of change in relation to sustainability. Through this understanding, students are able to apply their skills in combination with their knowledge to develop professionally and resolve real world problems.
At WVU, sustainability education extends beyond the classroom, with the entire campus acting as a learning environment. Students have many opportunities to learn about sustainability and its many faces. For instance, students may enroll in sustainable courses such as Art and Environment, Intro to Wildlife Management, Intro to Environmental Protection, Intro to Natural Resources and Environmental Economics, Intro to Environmental Engineering, Sustainable Design, Sustainable Construction, Sustainable Forestry, and Sustainable Living; pursue a degree in a sustainability degree program; and/or they can participate in many of our Co-Curricular activities.
