Position Overview:

WECAN, WVU Environmental Conservation Awareness Now, is a collaborative university effort committed to ensuring a more sustainable future for WVU students, faculty, staff, and for the citizens of West Virginia. The Health and Safety internship program offers students the ability to gain and utilize skills to address environmental health and safety concerns at WVU. By establishing written procedures in compliance with the US Environmental Protection Agency, they aim to preserve the human health and welfare of the WVU community and its visitors.

Primary Functions:

• Research and perform data analysis, as needed
• Communicate with university departments
• Assist with education and outreach initiatives
• Aid in the management, disposal, and conservation of hazardous materials; as well as environmental sanitation, water quality, etc.
• Other duties as assigned
