Blue and Gold Mine Sale (view as slideshow)
The May fund raiser at Milan Puskar Stadium helped the university manage student waste left behind at the end of the year by selling one person's trash and making it another person's treasure. In 2009, the sale raised over $18,000.

The Blue and Gold Mine Sale is held the Saturday after WVU graduation. Mark your calendars for May 24th, 2008! |
2007's Blue and Gold Mine sale raised $9,000 for the United Way. |
The collection period on campus is one week in duration--the week of finals. Collections from the POD locations in city locations around Morgantown (5 locations in all) continue for an additional 10 days. |
|
PODS for donations are located at the Area 81 Parking Lot (Med Center PRT station), the Student Rec. Center, Chateau Royale, on Prospect Street in front of the DA building, and at the corner of Grant and Second Avenues, right in front of Summit Hall. |
In 2007, the Blue and Gold Mine Sale collected 30 tons of material during finals week! |
The sale happens as a result of hard work and collaboration from WVU Facilities Management, the City of Morgantown, and the United Way of Monongalia County. |
|
The sale received three couches in its inaugural year, fifteen the next year, and in 2007 received fifty couches for resale!!! All but three of these fifty were sold! |
The sale is popular, so get there early, bring your cash, and be ready to hunt for barigains! Volunteers operate a concession stand with coffee, donuts, and other refreshments for hungry shoppers. |
All unsold items are picked up by the Preston County Shelter Workshop and the Wadestown Community Resource Center. |
