Research

WVU has long been a national leader in energy research. To continue this leadership, WVU recognizes the need for research into cleaner fossil fuel energy and renewable energy. Energy research that is currently conducted at WVU includes topics such as enhanced fuel cell production, carbon sequestration, wind energy, and biofuels production. WVU also conducts research in sustainable agriculture, textile recycling, and environmental policy.

WVU has many departments engaged in sustainability research including Civil and Environmental Engineering, Industrial and Management Systems Engineering (IMSE), the Organic Research Farm, Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, and National Research Center for Coal and Energy (NRCCE).
