Health and Safety

Environmental Health and Safety administers a large variety of programs aimed at preserving human health and welfare, protecting the environment, overseeing the safety of faculty, staff, students, and visitors as well as safeguarding campus facilities. Preventing losses to these valuable university assets is essential for providing a sustainable campus now and into the future. Losses reduce financial resources needed for implementing sustainability initiatives and often result in pollutants being released into the environment. Environmental Health and Safety at WVU provides expert assistance for over 20 programs aimed at preserving valuable university resources. Some of these programs include occupational safety, fire prevention, facility code compliance, environmental sanitation, hazardous materials and waste, laboratory safety, indoor air quality, research grant reviews, and emergency preparedness.
