Community and Civic Engagement

WVU provides many opportunities for students to become engaged in the community in conservation efforts, service projects, and environmental awareness. The Mountaineers Recycle program provides an opportunity for students to become involved in recycling the mass amounts of cans and bottles disposed of at WVU football games. WVU is also the proud home of 10 student organizations engaged in sustainability initiatives and environmental stewardship on campus and in the community. These student organizations provide a plethora of opportunities ranging from repopulating red spruce trees in Canaan Valley, to conducting mammal surveys in Cooper’s Rock State Forest, to performing an energy audit of WVU’s Recreation Center.
