Congratulations to our 2009 Winners- Summit Hall and the Communications Building!
Summit Hall is the winner in the residence hall competition, reducing its energy consumption by 25.08%, and winning or placing in the recycling competition all four weeks, and achieving an overall score of 35 points. Additionally, Summit Hall won the Trivia Quiz participation, the Scavenger Hunt, and had more students attend the Ecolympics Midnight Games than any other residence hall.
The Communications Building is the winner for the other building category, reducing its energy consumption by 24.87% and winning one week of the recycling challenge, for an overall score of 13 points.
Thanks to everyone who participated and continues to recycle and conserve energy on campus. Remember—- together WE CAN!The logo hidden for the scavenger hunt has been found! Congratulations to David Williams, Tessa Turek, and Kenneth Hite of Summit Hall!!!

The WE CAN Ecolympics is a three-pronged recycling and energy conservation competition on campus.
1) A competition between dorms
2) A competition between all other campus buildings
3) A competition for consistency among the dorms, or keeping up with the recycling and energy conservation efforts after the competition is over
Ecolympics Events
Friday, October 2 – Fall Family Weekend – Come visit WE CAN in the Mountainlair during Mountaineer Idol in the Mountainlair. We’ll have free giveaways and a chance to win a WVU bike!
Friday, October 9 – Ecolympics Midnight Games- Join us at 11 pm at Up All Night in the Mountainlair for sustainable competitive events, free prizes, and a chance to win a grand prize! the residence hall with the most student participants will earn extra points for the Ecolympics challenge.
Saturday, October 17 – Game Day Recycling Challenge sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency – WVU will be representing the Big East Athletic Conference and competing against eight other schools (like Harvard and Michigan) to recycle the most at a football game.
Saturday, October 24 – Online Trivia Quiz and Scavenger Hunt – This is an Ecolympics tradition! Trivia Quiz participants earn extra points for their building by participating. Scavenger hunt winners get cool prizes like restaurant gift cards!
