WE CAN ECOLYMPICS WINNERS RECOGNIZED !
Congratulations to Summit Hall for winning the first annual Ecolympics Challenge! Summit recycled a total of 3,714 lbs. (6.6 lbs. per person) in just one week (!) of the competition. During the month-long challenge in October, the residence hall reduced its energy consumption by 26%, and beat out Bennett/Lyon Towers in a week-long tie break challenge to emerge as the clear winner!
On January 16th, 2008 an awards ceremony and pizza party was held for the residents. President Mike Garrison unveiled a trophy and 60 inch plasma television. In addition, a representative from Wal-Mart, who donated the tv, gave the WE CAN program $10,000 in additional support of on-campus recycling and conservation efforts. THANK YOU!!!
Congratulations to Summit Hall. Tune back in at the beginning of the Fall 2008 semester to see if Summit can hold onto their title.
