Our Guiding Principles
Good environmental performance is not just a legal or moral obligation. Campus-wide sustainability at WVU will be guided by the following four principles:
1. Educate and instill resource conservation and environmental stewardship as a core “Mountaineer value” campus-wide;
2. Enhance the architectural heritage and beauty of the campus by incorporating sustainability principles, both in the built and natural environment;
3. Take appropriate actions to translate, align, and harmonize environmental concerns into fiscal and operational considerations; and
4. Serve as a “catalyst for change and role model,” and reinforce the social responsibility of WVU as a good neighbor within the larger community.
